Weed, herb, pot, cannabis, good smoke, that sticky icky, chronic, krippie, marijuana, maryjane, OG Kush, Sour Diesel, Purple Urkle, Trainwreck…whatever you call it, in Florida it can still send you to prison.

Recreational states have collected over a billion dollars in tax revenue on marijuana, but no state in the South has legalized it for adult use.

Many think that Florida could be the first. And institutional capital is betting on it. Florida’s recently passed medical marijuana program is booming, and today, we’re talking all about it.

We welcome Dr. Safiya Lyn-Lassiter of Ask Doctor Lyn. She is an MD on the forefront of the medical marijuana revolution in Florida. Also on the show is her sister Professor Jamila Lyn, who works with college students especially of HBCU’s and sees the effects of marijuana charges on their records firsthand. We also welcome Nikki Fried of Igniting Florida, she is an attorney and legislative professional who helped write the language for Florida’s medical marijuana bill. Host Joe Stone rounds out the panel.

Where there’s injustice for one, there’s injustice for all. Welcome to Felony Miami.

Let’s air it out.

  1. Very informative panel. Learned a lot about the legal and medical use of this substance by a very brilliant and standout cast. Very intriguing and well expressed topics.

  2. That was the most informative discussion I’ve heard on this subject. Clearly the methods and ideologies of the past aren’t working, so it’s time to refresh our views to reflect a more productive and culturally sensitive approach. Truly enlightening!
